GW House
GW House is a private residence structured on one level, where spaces are combined through an indoor-outdoor spatial continuity. The wide windows all along the perimeter are made of laminated glass with an opacifying system to ensure complete privacy. Two inner gardens of 80 sqmt overall characterize the building design; as green islands inside the house, they create a suspended dimension, and define the layout plan with no further splitting. The first garden unfolds between the work unit - made of a meeting room, a reading area and other services - and the private unit represented by living room, kitchen and bedrooms. The large office area, designed to create a confidential working context, is equipped with plasma TV screen and other hi-tech facilities integrated in the furniture system. A large living area is enclosed by glass sheets and connected with the rest of the house trough passages opened in this glass curtain. Two different entrances allow to access each unit separately, while the connection between the parts is guaranteed by hallways.
The second garden, not as large, is placed in the middle of the private residence, set between informal studio and sleeping area. Hallway length is reduced to 8 meters infact part of it extends into the bedroom perimeter; here are a walk-in closet, a desk and some book shelves. Its external positioning allows not to interrupt the visual continuity along the hallway. In the bedroom, next to the bed there are reading area, walk-in closet, en-suite bathroom, while a large bench, covered by a single cushion, faces the private gardens. The master bathroom has a great visual impact thanks to a circular bathtub. The whole residence combines with balance the white color of the furniture and the natural oak used for the paving and for the wall cladding. The home automation system includes automatic passing-by light-switch and a rational management of the plant system aimed to save energy. A teak platform goes around the house defining external spaces.
